Mayor Francis Suarez announces new Chief of Staff

(Miami, FL January 2, 2019) - Mayor Francis Suarez announces the appointment of Jeremy Schwarz as his new Chief of Staff effective today, January 2, 2019.

“I am excited to welcome Jeremy Schwarz to the City of Miami,” said Mayor Francis Suarez. “Jeremy is a true professional whose experience and background will be vital in carrying out our vision to create a more resilient, safe, and vibrant Miami for all.”

Mr. Schwarz has over 16 years of military and public service serving as a lieutenant for the United States Navy and mostly recently as Chairman of the Miami-Dade United Way Veterans Legal Services Committee.

"I am grateful to Mayor Francis Suarez for the honor and privilege of serving the people of Miami and Florida as his Chief of Staff," said Mr. Schwarz. "I became a Floridian through my service in the US Navy and look forward to continuing that tradition of service."

He received his undergraduate degree from Fordham University, his Master’s in Philosophy and Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge and his law degree from Harvard Law School. He is also a member of the Connect Florida Class IX, a premier leadership program in the State of Florida composed of preeminent professionals.

"I am pleased to welcome my friend Jeremy Schwarz to the City of Miami," said City Manager Emilio Gonzalez. "His experience, qualifications and leadership will prove invaluable to the City." 

Prior to joining the City, Mr. Schwarz worked as an associate with the Miami office of global law firm K&L Gates LLP.
