Innovation helps bring Pittsburgh to Miami
Published on December 19, 2018
Since November 2017, the City has conducted a series of process improvement trainings through a program called the Miami Innovation Academy. This program was initiated by the Office of Innovation and the Office of Strategic Planning under the City Manager’s purview. It was recently moved to the newly-formed Department of Innovation and Technology (DoIT).
Miami Innovation Academy is an intensive hands-on training that takes place over two and half days at the end of nearly every month. In the Academy, employees learn valuable techniques such as process mapping, waste identification, and experiment design. These tested techniques help employees to clearly see and solve problems in their workspaces. The program focuses on LEAN methods and is based on the City and County of Denver’s nationally recognized Peak Academy.
This week, the City of Miami hosted the City of Pittsburgh’s Department of Innovation & Performance at the Miami Innovation Academy. Thank you for joining us and allowing for this program to grow throughout the country.
