Honoring Miami Veterans during Veterans Day Centennial Celebration

(Miami, FL November 8, 2018) - This year marks the hundredth anniversary of Veterans Day and to commemorate the long and rich history of this special day, The City of Miami and The Coconut Grove American Legion Post 182 will proudly host The Miami Veterans Day Centennial Salute in Historic Coconut Grove at City Hall on Saturday, November 10, 2018.
City Manager Emilio Gonzalez will serve as the Honorary Host Committee Chair of this day-long series of patriotic events to honor the men and women who have served The United States Armed Forces.
The schedule of events will begin at 8:30 a.m. with The Commander David White Veterans Memorial Ceremony at the Charlotte Jane Memorial Park Cemetery followed by a Pre-Parade Ceremony at City Hall at 10:00 a.m. The Official Red, White and Blue Parade will kick off at 11:00 a.m. from the intersection of Matilda and Historic Grand Avenue. It will travel for 1 mile with several great public viewing areas along the parade route to Douglas Road.
Immediately following the parade from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. there will be a Coconut Grove Veterans Benefits Fair at the Miami Fire College located at 3425 Jefferson St. The fair will include information about Homeless, Enrollment, Housing, VA Loans, Disability, Health Care/Mental Health, Employment, Funeral Honors and Burials, Women Veterans Benefits, and more!
