City Manager announces new Director of Communications

(Miami, FL December 31, 2018) - City Manager Emilio T. Gonzalez announces the appointment of Stephanie Severino as Director of Communications. 

“I am confident that Ms. Severino will continue to lead the Office of Communications in a manner that will prioritize finding new and more effective ways to keeping our residents well-informed and engaged,” said City Manager Emilio Gonzalez. “I look forward to continue working with her and the Communications team.”

Ms. Severino joined City of Miami in May of 2018 as Deputy Director of Communications to assist with all aspects of  the Communications Department including internal and external communications, media relations, social media, and multimedia production.

"I am honored to be given the opportunity to lead the Office of Communications during this digital era when people are constantly connecting and communicating in new ways," Severino said. “I am eager to continue sharing the administration's vision of improving our residents’ quality of life, creating a more resilient Miami and building a better future for Miamians.”

Prior to joining the City, Ms. Severino served as Assistant Director of the Office of Communications for Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez. In that role, she assisted with the oversight of the communications efforts for the County's 25 departments including Miami International Airport and PortMiami. Ms. Severino joined Miami-Dade County as the Mayor's Press Secretary in 2014. Previously, she was a weather anchor and news reporter for Univision. She holds a bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism and Latin American Studies from the University of Miami.
