Request a Rezone

Are you interested in requesting a change to the Future Land Use Map (FLUM) or Zoning District for your property? Below is a step-by-step process for the two Rezone Schedule for Spring and Fall cycles. Depending on the application and complexity of the request, the rezoning process ranges from 6 to 9 months. Refer to the complete timeline with each step in the process under:

Attend Pre-Application Meeting 

Pre-Application meetings help you to prepare for the upcoming Rezone Cycle.

Complete Application Prescreen Process 

This process will take up to 72 hours (about 3 days) to complete. After submitting the Rezone application, your documents will be "pre-screened". The Planning Department will provide comments in ePlan requesting additional information needed. Your project will be assigned to a Planner within seven (7) days after completing pre-screen. Planning Department's Review Rounds and Comments 

  • First Rounds of Comments are processed within 42 days (about 1 and a half months) from your initial submission. Your project's assigned Planner will reach out to you to schedule a meeting within 14 days (about 2 weeks) of providing initial comments. Please refer to above Spring and Fall Rezone Cycle Timeline regarding resubmission with the correct information addressing the Planner's comments. (Steps 4, 5, and 6) 
  • Second Round of Comments are processed within 23 days (about 3 and a half weeks) from resubmission. Please refer to above Spring and Fall Rezone Cycle Timeline regarding resubmission with correct information addressing Planning Department's comments. (Steps 7 and 8) 

Coordinate with the Hearing Boards Division for Public Hearing Process 

The submission documents will be referred to the Hearing Boards Division through the department's batch stamp process within 42 days (about 1 and a half months) of your last submission. The deadline to submit payment and final documentation to the Hearing Boards Division can be found in the above Spring and Fall Rezone Cycle Timeline. (Steps 9 and 10)
