NOTICE OF VIRTUAL SPECIAL COMMISSION MEETING - 10/14/20

Pursuant to Miami City Commission Resolution R-20-0302, adopted on September 24, 2020, a VIRTUAL special meeting of the Miami City Commission will be held on Wednesday, October 14, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. and broadcast from Miami City Hall. The purpose of the virtual Special City Commission meeting will be to discuss and take any and all actions relating to affordable housing including but not limited to adopting a Resolution of the Miami City Commission, with attachment(s), amending and supplementing Resolution No. R-19-0111 adopted by the City Commission on March 14, 2019, which authorized the City Manager, the City Attorney, and Bond Counsel to take any and all steps necessary to validate the approved and expected future expenditures not to exceed One Hundred Million Dollars ($100,000,000.00) of the aggregate principal total amount of the affordable housing and economic development bonds portion of the Miami Forever Bonds in order to reflect the changes to the following four (4) Program Type Standard Operating Procedures for the Affordable Homeownership Strategy, Affordable New Construction Rental Strategy, Affordable Workforce New Rental Strategy, and Homeownership Preservation Strategy. No business shall be conducted, or a vote taken at a special City Commission meeting on business other than the subject(s) for which the special meeting is called.
The October 14, 2020 Special City Commission Meeting will be held as a VIRTUAL MEETING with elected officials and City staff participating through video conferencing. This virtual meeting will be broadcasted live for members of the public to view on the City’s website (www.miamigov.com/tv), Facebook, Twitter, Periscope, YouTube and Channel 77 (Comcast only for residents living in the City of Miami).
For your information, members of the public can leave prerecorded public comment by calling 305-250-5353 for agenda items that are scheduled to be heard at this virtual meeting. The prerecorded public comment will be played during the virtual meeting. Additionally, members of the public may also submit a prerecorded video of your public comment to be shown at the virtual meeting. The deadline to submit prerecorded phone and prerecorded video messages is October 13, 2020 by 5:00 p.m. Phone and video messages submitted after the deadline may not be played during the virtual meeting. Finally, public comment may also be submitted via an online comment form and will be distributed to the Elected Officials and City Administration and made part of the public record. The deadline to submit public comment via the online comment form will occur when the Chairman closes public comment for the virtual meeting.
Members of the public may also preregister to provide live public comment by phone during the meeting. You may preregister by phone by calling 305-250-5350 or online at https://www.miamigov.com/Government/Live-Public-Comment. Members of the public that preregistered will receive a call from the City on the morning of the meeting (approximately 11:15 a.m.) to address the City Commission by phone during the public comment portion of the meeting. The deadline to preregister to provide live public comment by phone is October 13, 2020 by 5:00 p.m.

Please note that Governor DeSantis’ Executive Order (“E.O.”) Number 20-246 extended E.O. 20-69 suspending the requirement that a quorum be present in person or that a local government body meet at a specific public place. The Executive Order also allows local government bodies to continue utilizing communications media technology, such as telephonic and video conferencing for local government body meetings.
Should any person desire to appeal any decision of the City Commission with respect to any matter to be considered at this meeting, that person shall ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made including all testimony and evidence upon which any appeal may be based (F.S. 286.0105).
