NOTICE OF VIRTUAL SPECIAL CITY COMMISSION MEETING 3/25/20

Pursuant to Section 2-33(l) of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended, a VIRTUAL special meeting of the Miami City Commission will be held on Wednesday, March 25, 2020, at 8:00 p.m. and broadcast from Miami City Hall.  The purpose of this virtual special meeting is to discuss and take any and all actions necessary to deal with a mandatory shelter in place order or curfew, accessibility of meals and other services to seniors, the City of Miami’s Marlins Park testing initiative, and an update from the City Manager on the City’s progress regarding the COVID-19 pandemic.  No business shall be conducted, or a vote taken at a special City Commission meeting on business other than the subject(s) for which the special meeting is called. 

The March 25, 2020, Special City Commission Meeting will be held as a VIRTUAL MEETING with elected officials and City staff participating through video conferencing. 

This meeting will be broadcasted live on the City’s website (www.miamigov.com/tv)FacebookPeriscope and Channel 77 (Comcast only for residents living in the City of Miami).  For your information, members of the public can leave prerecorded public comment by calling 305-250-5353 for agenda items that are scheduled to be heard at this virtual special meeting. The prerecorded public comment will be played during the virtual special meeting. Additionally, members of the public may also submit a prerecorded video of your public comment to be shown at the virtual special meeting (phone and video messages must be sent by 5 p.m. on March 25th, 2020). Any submissions received after the deadline may not be played during the meeting but will be included as part of the record. Finally, public comment may also be submitted via an online comment form.  These comments will be distributed to the Elected Officials and City Administration, and will be included in the public record.  The deadline to submit to the online form will occur when the chair closes public comment during the meeting.

Should any person desire to appeal any decision of the City Commission with respect to any matter to be considered at this meeting, that person shall ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made including all testimony and evidence upon which any appeal may be based (F.S. 286.0105).   

Please note that Governor DeSantis’ Executive Order Number 20-69(PDF, 2MB) suspended the requirement of a quorum to be present in person or requires a local government body to meet at a specific public place.  The Executive Order also allows local government bodies to utilize communications media technology, such as telephonic and video conferencing for local government body meetings.
