The Miami Parking Authority (MPA), once again, gets in the holiday spirit with the return of its traditional and popular “Holiday Parking Courtesy Citation Program” to give back to the community by helping customers avoid getting citations.

Created over a decade ago, the program will be in effect every single day, 24 hours a day, from Sunday, December 15, 2019 at 12:01 am through Wednesday, January 1, 2020 at 11:59 pm. The holiday program applies to all on-street parking spaces managed by the MPA. All customers who purchase parking at a single-space meter, Pay by Plate master meter, or via the PayByPhone app, will be eligible. Once their parking session has expired, they will receive a special Holiday Courtesy Citation explaining that they have been granted up to one free hour of parking beyond the expiration time.

“The Holiday Courtesy Citation Program is one of many ways by which the Authority give thanks to, and support, our loyal customers, merchants and those who visit the city of Miami,” said Alejandra Argudin, Chief Operations Officers. “This is also a good opportunity to remind our customers to lock their vehicles and secure any valuables during this time as well as throughout the year.”

Additionally, customers who live within the boundaries of the city of Miami and are registered with the MPA Customer Service department are eligible to receive a resident discount when they park and use the free PaybyPhone app.  Moreover, customers who park in Miami do not incur a payment surcharge when they use PayByPhone. Approximately five years ago, the MPA became the first and only parking agency in Florida to absorb the mobile payment technology fee thus, passing the extra savings along to its customers.
