Miami Department of Parks and Recreation Closing Summer Camps
Published on July 22, 2020
The City of Miami Department of Parks and Recreation today announced that its summer camp program will close this Friday, July 24, and will not reopen for the remainder of the summer due to COVID-19 concerns. The decision to close the City's summer camp program was made after careful consideration and in an effort to protect the health of campers, Parks staff and their families.
"This was a difficult decision to make, given the number of local children who benefit from participating in our summer camp program, but it is absolutely the right decision in light of the extraordinary circumstances our community is facing," said Parks Director Lara Hamwey.
Additionaly, partner agencies that use City of Miami Parks properties for their summer camp programs will cease operations on Friday.
