This week, the Southeast Overtown/Park West Community Redevelopment Agency (SEOPW CRA) and Board Chairman and District 5 Miami Commissioner Jeffrey Watson welcomed the first family into the new SEOPW CRA “Twin Homes” homeownership project.

On Wednesday, October 6, lifelong Overtown resident Angel Johnson received the keys to a brand new 3-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom home, fully equipped with washer and dryer, stainless steel appliances, walk-in closets and more.

"Anytime someone becomes a homeowner, they become invested in ensuring they have a strong, beautiful neighborhood," said Commissioner Watson. "It was a great pleasure assisting Mr. Johnson and I plan to put forth the same effort helping others."

The SEOPW CRA Twin Homes project is the first completed homeownership property as part of the SEOPW CRA's affordable homeownership program. While addressing the City's growing affordability crisis, the SEOPW CRA's redevelopment goal is to not only provide accessible affordable housing, but to also transform Overtown from a multi-family rental community into a multi-family homeownership community.

The SEOPW CRA, along with the City of Miami and Miami-Dade County, own more than 30 parcels of land that can be developed to accommodate new homeownership opportunities in the redevelopment area.
