City of Miami Mortgage Assistance Program Still Accepting Applications

The City of Miami Mortgage Assistance Program (MAP) is still accepting applications from income-eligible homeowners within City of Miami limits only (property address must begin with Folio 01) with a homestead exemption, who experienced an income hardship after March 1 due to COVID-19, are now behind on their mortgage, and meet all other program qualifications. The MAP program can provide up to $10,000 in one-time assistance towards the qualifying homeowner’s mortgage arrears (Principal, Interest, Taxes and Insurance). The MAP award is paid directly to the qualified applicant’s mortgage lender in the form of a grant, with no repayment required.  

The applicant must be 120% Area Median Income or below based on household size, have been current on their mortgage prior to March 1, and submit a completed application package that includes photocopies of all required supporting documents as specified in the application itself. The MAP application is available online for downloading in English, Spanish and Creole. Please see application for instructions on where to submit an application package.  

The City of Miami MAP program rolled out mid-August with approximately $1.3 million in funding via the State of Florida Coronavirus Relief Fund (CRF). To date, 86 homeowners have been approved for assistance. The program will remain open through Monday, November 30, or until funding is exhausted.  

Paper applications for the MAP are available at City of Miami NET offices for pick up only. Please call 311 to confirm if a potential applicant’s address is located within City of Miami limits, and for NET office locations/hours. Applicants are assisted on a first come, first ready, first served basis. Incomplete application packages (missing documents) will not be processed. Documents cannot be returned to the applicant. Applying for, or receiving assistance through, the MAP does not guarantee that the applicant’s property will not be foreclosed on by their lender.
