COVID-19 Updates

The City of Miami opened the application period for its Eviction Prevention Program (EPP) for eligible renter households within City limits (property address must begin with Folio 01) on Monday, August 3. The program provides up to $3,500 (one-time) towards the rental arrears of qualifying City households who are 80% Area Median Income or below*, experienced job loss or income reduction on or after March 1st due to COVID-19, and submit a completed application package that includes photocopies of all required supporting documents. The assistance will be paid directly to the qualifying renter’s landlord.

Starting Monday, August 3 at 9 a.m., application forms are available online for downloading at, and in paper format for pick up only, at all NET locations. For questions on the EPP, please call 305-416-2080.

To be processed, submissions must include the application form along with photocopies of all required supporting documents in one sealed envelope that can be sent via U.S. Mail to the PO BOX noted on the application form or dropped off at the Department of Housing & Community Development, 14 NE 1 Ave., Lobby Drop Box (First Floor), Miami, FL 33132, Monday through Friday, 9 am to 4 pm. Incomplete application packages (missing documents) will not be processed and will be disqualified. Documents cannot be returned to the applicant.

Interested renters must consult with their landlords to gather some of the required supporting documentation specified on the application form. Landlords can opt to not participate in this program. The required supporting documents are as follows:

  • copy of current, executed lease agreement (signed by landlord and renter);
  • proof that a member of the applicant household lost his/her job or had a reduction in income after March 1, 2020;
  • State of Florida issued photo ID with City address for all adult household members (age 18 and up);
  • proof of household income for all adult household members: Income Self-certification form (included in application);
  • three-day eviction notice signed by landlord;
  • rent verification form signed by landlord (included in application);
  • W-9 form and ACH form signed by landlord (included in application)

The program has over $300,000 in available funding and can help approximately 85 households. Due to limited funds, applicants will be assisted on a first come, first ready, first served basis. Applicants cannot receive EPP assistance for any month during which they are receiving rental funds from another local, state or federal program. Applicants who owe more than $3,500 in rental arrears will be referred to the HAND Program. Applying for the EPP, or receiving assistance through the EPP, does not guarantee that the applicant will not be evicted.
