Garbage

The City of Miami Solid Waste Department provides residential garbage collection twice per week. Please note the Department of Solid Waste only closes on Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Christmas Day.

Should the normal scheduled collection day fall on the Christmas Day or Martin Luther King Jr. Day , garbage collection will be performed on the next scheduled pickup day in your area.

Put Out/Clean Up Your Garbage Bins

  • Be sure to put out your garbage bins 12-24 hours prior to the morning of pickup.
  • Bins (carts) must be at least five feet away from any obstruction (trees, cars, light poles, etc.)
  • Bins (carts) must be removed within 24 hours after pickup to avoid a citation.

Recycling

The City of Miami Solid Waste Department provides free recycling collection every other week and does not coincide with your garbage collection days. Your recycle route is based on your address (please insert address above).

Please note the Department of Solid Waste only closes on Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Christmas Day. Please refer to your recycling calendar for make-up dates if your normal collection schedule would fall on one of these dates.

The Department of Solid Waste provide several opportunities to recycle old electronics throughout the year. We will accept most forms of tabletop electronics and batteries. For more information, please contact recycle@miamigov.com 

Bulky Trash

The City of Miami Solid Waste Department provides residential bulky trash collection once per week. 

Collection includes:

  • Household Furniture 
  • Household Electronics 
  • White Goods/Appliances 
  • Clean Yard Trash 

All items must be securely tied in bundles, no more than three (3) ft. in length nor weighing more than fifty (50) lbs and placed in front of resident's property the evening prior to the scheduled collection day.

Yard trash must be separated from garbage and recyclables and should not be placed in the (blue) recycling bins.

Should the normal scheduled collection day fall on the Christmas or Martin Luther King holiday, bulky trash collection will be performed on the next scheduled pickup day in your area (i.e. holiday falls on Monday, trash will be collected the next scheduled Monday pickup).
