Important Election Dates

  • City of Miami General Municipal Election: November 7, 2023 - Deadline to Register to vote: October 10, 2023
  • Run-Off Election (if required): November 21, 2023 - Deadline to Register to vote: October 23, 2023

    The City of Miami's next General Municipal Election is scheduled for the following Offices:

    • Commissioner District 1
    • Commissioner District 2
    • Commissioner District 4
  • Deadline to file petitions in lieu of qualifying: August 11, 2023

  • Qualifying Period: September 8-23, 2023
         Dates:     Friday, September 8, 2023 through Saturday, September 23, 2023      
         Hours:     8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Note: The City Clerk’s Office will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 23, 2023)  
         Location: Miami City Hall, Office of the City Clerk, 3500 Pan American Drive, Miami, FL 33133 . 

  • Early Voting Period: October 28, 2023 through November 5, 2023
    Early Voting Period for Run-Off Election (if required): November 17, 2023 through November 19, 2023

Campaign Treasurer's Reports: 
Each campaign treasurer designated by a candidate, Political Committee (PC), or Electioneering Communication Organizations (ECO) shall file Campaign Treasurer’s Reports of all contributions received, and all expenditures made, by or on behalf of such candidate. Campaign Treasurer’s Reports shall be filed on or before the due dates listed above.

Campaign Treasurer’s Reports shall be filed with the Office of the City Clerk.  Campaign Treasurer’s Reports shall be filed through the City’s electronic filing system using the Online Reporting Application.  To access the application, the candidate, PC or ECO must first obtain a login ID and password from the Office of the City Clerk.  Online submissions of Campaign Treasurer’s Reports must be received no later than midnight (Eastern Standard Time) on the day designated per Section 106.0705 (3), Florida Statutes. Any candidate, PC or ECO failing to electronically file a Campaign Treasurer’s Report on the designated due date shall be subject to a fine for each late day as provided in Section 106.07 (8)(b) and 106.0703(7), Florida Statutes.  Such fine shall be paid only from personal funds of the candidate.

In any reporting period during which a candidate, PC or ECO has not received any contributions or expended any reportable funds; a candidate, PC or ECO must electronically file a Waiver of Report, Form DS-DE 87, on or before the due dates listed above with the Office of the City Clerk.

Office Account (s) Reports: 

Quarterly Office Account Reports shall be filed with the Office of the City Clerk using the following forms:

Form DS-DE 48: Office Account Report, and;
Form DS-DE 48A: Office Account Disbursement or Deposit Information. 

Upon leaving office, any person who has funds in an office account shall give such funds to:
     •A charitable organization or organizations that meet the requirements of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code; or,
     •In the case of a state officer, to the state to be deposited in the General Revenue Fund; or,
     •In the case of an officer of a political subdivision, to the political subdivision to be deposited in the general fund thereof. 

Such Report(s) shall be signed by the candidate and certified as true and correct and filed with the Office of the City Clerk. Report(s) shall be filed no later than 5 p.m. of the day designated; however, any report postmarked by the United States Postal Service no later than midnight of the day designated is deemed to have been filed in a timely manner.
