Mr. Perez joined the Office of the City Attorney in October 2013 and serves as a Police Legal Advisor for the City of Miami's Police Department. In that capacity, Mr. Perez handles matters that involve the police department, provides counsel and advice to the Chief of Police, litigates contraband forfeiture cases, prepares legal bulletins for police officers, and provides guidance to the City's Emergency Operations Center in times of emergency. Prior to joining the Office of the City Attorney, Mr. Perez defended corporations against tort claims in state court. Mr. Perez also served as an Assistant State Attorney for Miami-Dade County prosecuting all levels of crimes and was a designated prosecutor in the Narcotics Unit and Traffic Homicide Unit.
