The City of Miami Office of Capital Improvements and the Department of Parks and Recreation recently held a community meeting to facilitate conversation and gather feedback from residents regarding the adaptive redesign for Jose Marti Park. Funded by the Miami Forever Bond, the goal of the project is to develop solutions that will strengthen the park’s resiliency to climate change and flooding. The meeting was well attended by interested citizens and District 3 Commissioner Joe Carollo.

The February 19 forum included three interactive areas allowing residents to provide their input on and select elements of the plans for the upgraded seawall, kayak launch, and landscaping under Phase One of the bond. The final version of the master plan will include the information collected from the meeting.

While engaging with the attendees, Commissioner Carollo and City leaders championed the importance of preserving and creating parks as an important way to enhance the quality of life for all residents.
