web3 Project: City of Miami x TIME, Mastercard & Salesforce

Miami Mayor Francis X. Suarez Announces Innovative Web3 Approach to Drive Revenue to Local Businesses and Non-Profits
TIME, MASTERCARD AND SALESFORCE TO PARTNER WITH THE MAYOR TO  LAUNCH THE NEW INITIATIVE LATER THIS YEAR

MIAMI, FL (JULY 28, 2022) - Today, Mayor Francis X. Suarez announced a partnership with TIME, Mastercard and Salesforce to launch an innovative NFT initiative for the City of Miami designed to drive revenue to local businesses and non-profits through exclusive rewards offerings.

Through the collaboration, the City of Miami will unveil a unique collection of nearly 5,000 NFTs designed by 56 local Miami artists, representing the city’s 56 square mile area. Holders of these NFTs will benefit from access to Mastercard’s Priceless Miami program, which provides unique experiences, from one-of-a-kind events at local Miami restaurants to curated, unforgettable private tours of Miami cultural institutions and other memorable activities.

Mayor Francis X. Suarez stated: "I am thrilled to be partnering with TIME, Mastercard and Salesforce on this initiative. The City of Miami has been on the vanguard of the web3 revolution and we will continue to employ these new technologies to support our existing businesses while attracting new ones, raise capital and provide experiences for our citizens and those visiting this great City. At the same time, we can also use this novel approach to support local artists and charities."

TIME, the nearly 100-year-old brand that has emerged as a leader in the web3 space over the past year, will be responsible for guiding the strategy, developing the creative, and launching the initiative.

Keith A. Grossman, President of TIME, stated: "This initiative will provide a unique opportunity for the City of Miami to build deeper connections with residents and visitors alike. As we’ve evolved TIME into the web3 space over the past year and a half, we have uncovered new ways to engage consumers and create exciting new revenue streams for our industry. We are thrilled to leverage our learnings and expertise to build this program for the great City of Miami, which has already established itself as a leader in web3 innovation, and make our first move in a new venture for TIME to bring other brands and organizations successfully and authentically into web3."

Mastercard will add turn-key utility to the program by providing NFT holders with access to its Priceless Miami experiences.

Raja Rajamannar, Chief Marketing & Communications Officer of Mastercard, stated, “This new initiative demonstrates the powerful intersection of collaboration, creativity and commerce. We’re thrilled to join forces with local Miami businesses and provide greater utility and benefit of NFTs by offering Priceless experiences to the citizens of Miami and those visiting this dynamic city.”

Salesforce, the global leader in CRM, will be handling the minting and selling of NFTs through NFT Cloud, a new product - currently in closed pilot - designed to help brands deliver connected experiences across the physical and digital worlds. By leveraging the power of Salesforce and integrating web2 and web3 data, the City of Miami will be able to connect with its NFT holders in meaningful new ways.

Adam Caplan, SVP, Emerging Technology, Salesforce, stated, “Businesses are looking to  deliver connected experiences across emerging channels in a sustainable and trusted way. We’re excited to be a part of this initiative that will help strengthen Miami’s business community and bring unique experiences to life through an innovative offering.”

This initiative is anticipated to launch in December 2022 and will be on the Ethereum blockchain following its move from Proof of Work to Proof of Stake, a change that will reduce the initiative's carbon emissions by an estimated 99% or more. Application details for interested artists and more information on the NFT drop will be announced in the coming months.
