The meeting was called to order at 10:00 am, with the Pledge of Allegiance.  At commencement of the meeting, attendance was as follows:

Adoption of Agenda

Chair Sutton asked if there were any revisions to the Agenda.  Hearing none, a motion to adopt the Agenda as printed was considered and resulted as follows:

A motion was entered to approve the Minutes as presented, which resulted as follows:

The Board entered a motion to approve the leave as requested and thanked the employee for his service.

Johnny Fonseca, Police Officer, requests an extension of Active Duty Military Leave without pay effective December 2, 2020 through January 18, 2021. Records reflect his original, first, second and third extensions were approved through December 1, 2020. (DISCUSSION)

Copy of Findings of Fact concerning the hearing of Appeal on behalf of Travis Lindsey, Police Sergeant, concerning his 40-hour suspension, effective September 1, 2020. (DISCUSSION)

 

Following review of the Findings, the Board entered a motion to approve the Findings and Recommendations as presented, which resulted as follows:

MEETING CALENDAR

Chair Sutton asked the Board Members what their preference was for the December 15, 2020 meeting. Member Cabrera stated that he had no objection to cancelling the December 15th meeting. The Executive Secretary advised the Board the meeting is scheduled; however, there were no hearings scheduled for that date.

Following discussion, the Board entered a motion to CANCEL the Civil Service Board meeting of December 15, 2020, which resulted as follows:

H.1

Hearing Appeal on behalf of Henry Ortega, Police Officer, concerning his 120-hour suspension, effective December 25, 2018.

 

Adanna Ferguson, Assistant City Attorney, advised the Board that the parties in this matter had reached a settlement agreement and it will be forwarded to the Civil Service Board Office. This matter will be placed on an upcoming Agenda once the Settlement Agreement has been received.
