Who we
are:
Located in
the organizational structure under the City
Manager’s Office, the Office of Grants
Administration (OGA) offers a coordinated grants
effort with eight dedicated staff members and a
Director.
The Office
of Grants Administration is part of every step
of the internal grants process for City
departments from researching for funding
availability to the initial brainstorming phase;
quality writing and review of the application
before it is submitted; assisting with the
auditing, budgeting, monitoring, reporting and
through to the closeout of a grant. OGA does not
grant awards but rather assists City departments
seeking funding from the Federal, State and
Local government entities and foundations that
do.
Service
to Community Organizations:
Although
OGA’s mission is directly related to City
departments and entities, we realize the
importance of using our knowledge and resources
for the larger community. As such, OGA has
established the VISTA program which places
full-time volunteer VISTA members in
community-based and faith-based organizations
throughout the City of Miami. The majority of
the members assist their host site with grant
writing, resource development and volunteer
management with the ultimate goal of increasing
the resources with which they can assist their
neighborhood. A recent addition to the VISTA
program involves assisting those ex-offenders
returning to the community without skills or
services and helping them successfully reenter
society.
