LETTER TO THE COMMUNITY WE SERVE
Since its inception in 1992, the Neighborhood
Enhancement Team offices or NET have responded to
resident and business concerns regarding the
condition of our neighborhoods and the delivery of
municipal services within the City of Miami. NET’s
primary goal and response to these concerns is to
enhance the quality of life in each neighborhood
through the coordination of city services. The NET
teams, and our citizen-government partnership has
been a major step in reducing crime and improving
municipal services; thus making our city a better
place to live and work.
NET offices are direct points of contact between
residents and City Hall. We serve our neighbors
proactively, as well as disseminate knowledge about
programs designed to improve all of our
neighborhoods. As NET administrators and staff, part
of our mission is to facilitate city services in a
courteous, professional, and efficient manner. To
fulfill this mission and ensure a high level of
expertise and service, we place a high priority on
staff training.
The new NET involves a separation from Code
Enforcement, which allows us to focus on quality of
life issues. Each NET office will continue to offer
services ranging from Police, aid in Community
Development, permits and applications for
Certificates of Use and Occupational Licenses, tree
removal permits and many more.
Our NET citywide quality of life initiatives include
obtaining funds for landscaping, signage, and
beautification projects; developing plans in
conjunction with Police to prevent crime; finding
new avenues to alleviate pollution; launching
neighborhood cleanup and graffiti paint-out
campaigns; facilitating educational programs for
micro-entrepreneurs to acquire business loans; and
promoting job counseling and training.
We have enthusiastically declared 2006 – The Year of
the NET! Please come visit us soon.
