Composting
is the decomposition of plant remains
to make fertilizer.
Decomposition of these materials occurs
naturally in all but the most hostile of
environments which include landfills,
extremely arid deserts or cold weather areas
such as Polar Regions. Composting
organic materials can reduce the volume of
garbage in landfills up to 30%.
Composting is easy and can be done in your
backyard.

Recycling
-
You can
also recycle grass clippings by leaving them
on the lawn. Mulching lawn mowers or
mulching blades are not necessary.
-
Use fallen
leaves and pine needles as mulch under trees
and shrubs. They make an attractive natural
mulch and are free. (Note: If you have more
leaves than you can use, share them with a
friend or neighbor or add them to your
compost pile.)
