Welcome to the Miami
Office of Sustainable Initiatives (MSI) new
website. This new department reflects the
concerns of the Mayor, Commission, and Administration for
Miami’s environment today and our desire to
build a sustainable Miami for the future.
MSI will
facilitate action within City operations. At the
community level, MSI will coordinate with local,
state and federal partners to increase the
availability of resources to implement
sustainable programs and policies. At the
neighborhood level, MSI will conduct intensive
education and outreach to foster a sense of
responsibility for our actions in our residents,
employees, and businesses to reduce negative
environmental impacts.
MSI is dedicated to creating opportunities for
you, your family and your co-workers to get
involved and I hope you will take away one thing
that you can do TODAY. The scale of
environmental issues can sometimes seem
overwhelming – but the exact opposite is true.
It is you, reading this today that can make an
impact on your surroundings in a positive way.
It’s not too late!
We envision this site as your go-to site for up
to date information on MSI’s various projects,
for education on key environmental issues and
opportunities for you to join our efforts. I
hope you will come back to this site often to
see the changes and updates that we will be
making. Together, we can, and will create a
