Agendas & Minutes

This board, comprised of nine members and one alternate, usually meets on the second and fourth Monday of every month at 7:00 PM at Miami City Hall. For more detailed information, please refer to Chapter 62 of the Miami City Code. The Board’s purpose is generally:

  • To act as a quasi-judicial instrument for granting variances and special exceptions.
  • To hear appeals from Class I and Class II Special Permits, Planning determinations and Zoning interpretations.
  • To hear applicants for rezoning of specific properties, vacation/closure of roads and make recommendations to the City Commission.

This department processes applications and petitions for:

  • Amendments to the Zoning Atlas (Zoning Changes)
  • Appeals (Class I and Class II Special Permits, Planning determinations and Zoning interpretations)
  • Official Vacation and Closure of Streets and Alleys
  • Special Exceptions
  • Variances

The deadline for items to be placed on an agenda is usually the first five working days of each month. This department schedules and organizes:

  • Advertisements
  • Agendas
  • Backup Documentation
  • Meetings
  • Minutes
  • Notices
  • Postings
  • Resolutions
