UPDATE
ON CITY OF MIAMI OPERATIONS |
(Miami, Fla.)
- The following is an update of City of Miami services as of Monday,
October 31, 2005:
●OPERATION BLUE ROOF
A Blue Roof Government on the Go Bus will be located in the City of
Miami on Thursday, November 3rd and Saturday, November 5th from 8
a.m. – 5 p.m. at Miami Riverside Center, 444 SW 2nd Avenue, Miami,
Florida. Officials from FEMA will be on site to help residents apply
for this service or get answers to questions regarding blue roof
covering. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has launched Operation Blue
Roof in Miami Dade County. Operation Blue Roof provides blue plastic
sheeting to cover roofs on eligible homes damaged by Hurricane Wilma at
no cost to the homeowner. Only primary residences that have sloped,
shingled roofs are eligible to receive a blue roof. Structures with
greater than 50 percent structural damage are not eligible. Tile or
slate roofs are not eligible, and mobile homes with aluminum siding only
cannot support a blue roof unless substantially reinforced. The U.S.
Army Corps of Engineers does not have tarps available for general
distribution.
Also, the City will have a Building Department station on site to
provide citizens with information on contractor fraud, roof or storm
related permits, required contractor licenses.

November 15th. Run-off elections will be held November, 29th.

operations.

as per last week’s continuation.
●GARBAGE/TRASH COLLECTION
Regularly-scheduled garbage collection will continue. Debris collection
across the city is also on-going. Residents need to be advised of the
following:
- Garbage should be put out for the regularly-scheduled pick-up. If your
garbage is NOT collected on the scheduled date, please leave it out as
it will be collected the following morning. Due to Hurricane Wilma,
there may be a short delay in garbage collection.
- Residents should separate vegetation from other trash and bulky items
to expedite the Hurricane Wilma city-wide clean-up effort.
- Garbage should be placed in an accessible location. Please do not park
in front of the garbage or place any other items around it to help
clean-up efforts.
