CITY
OF MIAMI FOCUSES ONCE AGAIN ON SPECIFIC NEIGHBORHOODS WITHOUT
POWER |
(Miami, FL.)— Continuing with the
focused efforts undertaken on Sunday, the City of Miami will be
providing individual ice and meal deliveries to neighborhoods that
remain without power on Monday, October 31, 2005. The command post
will once again be placed at the Orange Bowl Stadium and city staff will
be assessing the areas that have the most need. Staff will be collecting
ice and meals from the Orange Bowl and dropping them off in specific
areas.
City residents without electricity who need ice and meals should call
311 in order to have their address recorded and services routed to
their neighborhoods.
The City of Miami began providing water and ice to the community less
than 24 hours after Hurricane Wilma hit. As of Saturday, October 29th,
the city had served more than 150,000 people with water and ice at
distribution sites that have included Charles Hadley Park, the Orange
Bowl Stadium, Little Haiti NET, and Miami City Hall. In addition, there
have been focused efforts at locations including Overtown NET, Roberto
Clemente Park in Wynwood, and Williams Park in Overtown; and with the
delivery and distribution of about 70,000 meals to residents throughout
the city.
Media interested in following city staff as they deliver
much-needed resources to neighborhoods should call the Miami EOC media
line at 305-579-1831.
EDITOR’S NOTE: Media outlets have been erroneously reporting
that the City of Miami is operating points of distribution at Hadley
Park, City Hall, and the Orange Bowl. Please be advised that as of
Sunday, October 30th, those sites have been dismantled in order to
coordinate the focused efforts in areas without power. |
