Please be advised that there will be
no specific points of distribution for ice and water in the City of
Miami. We ask that the media please inform the community.
The City will now turn its attention to specific areas that remain
without power and continue to need ice.
The City of Miami began providing water and ice to the community less
than 24 hours after Hurricane Wilma hit. As of Saturday, October 29th,
the city had served more than 120,000 people with water and ice at
distribution sites that have included Charles Hadley Park, the Orange
Bowl Stadium, Little Haiti NET, and Miami City Hall. In addition, there
were distribution efforts at locations including Overtown NET, Roberto
Clemente Park in Wynwood, and Williams Park in Overtown; and with the
delivery and distribution of about 70,000 meals to residents throughout
the city.
The command post will once again be placed at the Orange Bowl Stadium. |
