CITY
OF MIAMI SERVES MORE THAN 120,000 PEOPLE AND TURNS ATTENTION TO
INDIVIDUAL ASSISTANCE |
(Miami, FL.)— After five days of
serving the community through points of distribution, on Sunday,
October 30, 2005, the City of Miami will begin to provide individual
ice deliveries to neighborhoods that remain without power. The command
post will once again be placed at the Orange Bowl Stadium and city staff
will be assessing the areas that have the most need.
The City of Miami began providing water and ice to the community less
than 24 hours after Hurricane Wilma hit. As of Saturday, October 29th,
the city had served more than 120,000 people with water and ice at
distribution sites that have included Charles Hadley Park, the Orange
Bowl Stadium, Little Haiti NET, and Miami City Hall. In addition, there
were distribution efforts at locations including Overtown NET, Roberto
Clemente Park in Wynwood, and Williams Park in Overtown; and with the
delivery and distribution of about 70,000 meals to residents throughout
the city.
The City will now turn its attention to specific areas that remain
without power and continue to need ice.
