The "Hot Stove" Approach
Immediacy - The stove burns you at the time you touch it. Take prompt action following a violation.
Foreknowledge - The stove's heat provides a warning of danger. Employees need to know the rules and regulation.
Consistency - If you keep touching the hot stove, it will keep burning you. Establishes the limits of acceptable vs. unacceptable behavior.
Impersonality - The stove does not care about personalities. The object of the criticism is the act itself and not the person associated with it.
