The Division of Equal Opportunity/Diversity Programs is responsible for investigating employment discrimination cases filed by current and former employees or applicants, providing technical assistance and training to employees and management regarding equal opportunity laws and diversity, and providing administrative support to the Equal Opportunity Advisory Board. Supervisory training sessions on EEO and mandatory training sessions for all employees are provided throughout the year. A presentation on employee rights to file EEO complaints is provided through the new employee orientation sessions. The EEO Officer reviews and approves the selection of hires and promotions in the Classified Service. This division is also responsible for the Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Plan for the City of Miami and preparing reports on the racial/ ethnic breakdown of the City’s workforce.
