Firefighter Documentation Requirements

Please be aware that only applications submitted with all required documents will be acceptedTo expedite the processing of applicants please have copies of all of your documents prior to submitting your application form.  Any applications received through the mail that are incomplete will be sent notice of ineligibility at the close of the recruitment.

RESIDENCY:  Applicants must reside within the corporate limits of Miami-Dade County at the time of application, and up to the time of hire.  Any two of the following documents must be submitted with application in order to qualify:

  • Valid State of Florida Driver License (Class E or higher)
  • Property Tax Statement
  • Properly Executed Lease Agreement
  • Homestead Exemption
  • Bank Account Statement (dated within last 60 days)
  • Utility Bill (dated within last 60 days)
  • Current Vehicle Registration in Applicant's Name

AGE:   Must be at least 18 years of age by March 25, 2009.  One of the following forms of proof must be submitted with application:

  • Birth Certificate
  • Valid State of Florida Driver License (Class E or higher)
  • Permanent School Record
  • Passport
  • Form DD-214  (Original or certified copy)
     

EDUCATION:

Must submit a High School Diploma, GED or equivalent from a school accredited by an agency that is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education with application. Higher degrees are welcome!
 

CERTIFICATION(S):

If applicable, submit a copy of current State of Florida Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Firefighter, or Paramedic certification. Please note that we will not accept score reports as proof of the above mentioned certifications.
 

DRIVER’S LICENSE:

Submit a copy of a valid State of Florida Driver’s License (Class E or higher) with application.
 

TOBACCO USE: 

 

 

 

VETERAN’S PREFERENCE:

Must submit a notarized sworn affidavit attesting to being a non-user of tobacco products for at least one year immediately preceding application. See Florida Statute 633.34(6) Form may be downloaded. To expedite the processing of applications please have this form notarized prior to submitting your application form. Veteran’s preference points will be awarded in accordance with Florida State Statute 295.07. Original Form DD-214 must be presented, and a legible copy submitted at time of application. Applicants claiming disabled veteran’s preference must submit a current letter from the Veteran’s Administration or the Department of Defense dated within the last year stating percentage of service-connected disability.
