Overtown Folk Life Festival Celebrates the Revitalization of Overtown

 Something is Happening in Overtown! Commissioner Spence-Jones along with the City of Miami celebrated the revitalization of Historic Overtown at the first annual Overtown Folk life Festival on December 6, 2008. Residents enjoyed live entertainment from R&B Sensation Angie Stone and Gerald Alston from the Manhattans, tasty food, legacy exhibits and much more.
 


City Officials Celebrate the Grand Opening of NW 3rd Avenue and the Kick-Off of Folk Life Fridays in Historic Overtown

Commissioner Spence-Jones, Chair of the Southeast Overtown/Park West and Omni Community Redevelopment Agencies (CRA) joined Mayor Manny Diaz and City of Miami Commissioners on December 5,2008, to celebrate the grand opening of NW 3rd Avenue and to kick-off Folk Life Fridays. Folk Life Fridays will take place every First Friday of the month from 11:00am to 3:00pm on the 9th Street Mall .Come out and enjoy live entertainment, food and arts and crafts.

City of Miami Commissioner Michelle Spence-Jones in partnership with the Carrie Meek Foundation and the Liberty City Community Revitalization Trust has launched a new campaign. The campaign entitled Soul Lives in the City “Experience the Soul” will focus on encouraging residents to live in areas throughout District 5 where there will be an abundance of newly developed affordable rental and homeownership units available to new and existing residents.

Habitat for Humanity Breaks Ground on New Town homes in Liberty City

HotSpot Campaign Kicks Off in Full Gear
