Throughout the month of June, Commissioner Suarez and staff celebrated Father’s Day with local seniors, by hosting multiple parties at District 4 senior centers. The festivities included DJ's, dancing, games, and cake. A blast was had by all in attendance!

On Wednesday, July 1st, Commissioner Suarez attended the Miami-Dade College Student Government Inauguration. An invigorating experience, Commissioner Suarez is excited to see what these young leaders will contribute to their campus.

Commissioner Swim For a Cause

On July 3rd, Commissioner Suarez joined forces with producer, Billy Corben, to swim against City of Miami Commissioner Marc Sarnoff, and Miami Dade County Commissioner Xavier Suarez. While Commissioner Suarez won the swim, the real winners were the children of Coconut Grove. Each swimmer donated $1,000 to cover the swimming fee at Virrick Park for kids this summer.

Hurricane Preparedness

Commissioner Suarez Leads Hurricane Preparedness for Seniors

In the event of a weather emergency, such as a hurricane, it is important to be prepared. On April 29th Commissioner Suarez lead an exercise on being hurricane-ready for local senior citizens at Centro Badia. While the residents enjoyed meals, City staff spoke to them about hurricane-related risks, and collected emergency contact information. There is no such thing as being "too prepared!"

Affordable Housing Roundtable Discussions

Commissioner Suarez is resolved to combat the lack of affordable housing options for our residents. To this end, he has gathered periodically with community and industry leaders at City Hall to conduct affordable housing roundtable discussions, during which viable solutions to this city-wide issue have been discussed.

Neighborhood Enhancement Team

Commissioner Suarez alongside the great members of the Neighborhood Enhancement Team. NET is a department that assists in enforcing the City’s code, and provides information to constituents on the myriad of resources available to them through the City.  They work daily to improve the quality and accessibility of these services, easily accessible in your own neighborhood NET office. Englewood Community Walks

Projects such as this are completed with the intention of improving the residents’ daily lives, and Commissioner Suarez believes maintaining a pulse on the residents’ thoughts as to the quality of work being performed is crucial.

Commissioner Francis X. Suarez and The Miami Foundation Partner to provide financial assistance for the elderly

Commissioner Francis X. Suarez has partnered with The Miami Foundation to assist elderly residents who are experiencing economic hardship. Made possible through a grant from Commissioner Suarez, the Elderly Assistance Relief Fund is now available at The Miami Foundation for residents ages 65 and older who live in the City of Miami District 4.

Mother's Day Events at District 4 Senior Centers

Commissioner Suarez and his staff spent days at two area Senior Centers, La Badia & Smathers, to celebrate Mother's Day. A great time was had by all in attendance, as the live DJ, raffle, desserts, and dancing kept everyone rocking throughout both parties.

Commissioner Suarez

Francis X. Suarez serves the City of Miami as Commissioner for District 4, working diligently to raise the standards of the community where he was born and raised. He currently also serves as Vice-Chair of the Miami-Dade Metropolitan Planning Organization, tasked with approving federally required plans and transportation policies, and as President of the Miami-Dade County League of Cities.
 
The oldest of four siblings, Commissioner Suarez was born into a family where, as he describes, “being socially conscious was a kind of requirement.” Commissioner Suarez is dedicated to elevating the quality of life of the residents he serves by way of focusing on transportation and connectivity issues within the city and beyond, nurturing the growth of a tech-based economy in the area and, by extension, job creation and international opportunities with Latin America.
