Crime Watch Meeting in Flagami with Commissioner Francis Suarez

Improving the quality of life in the District 4 community is one of Commissioner Suarez’s key goals. With the help of the NET team, the local police NRO’s and Commanders, and the community as a while, the District 4 office hosts community meetings on a weekly basis to address and target some of the key issues in the District’s neighborhoods.

The project consists of furnishing of street and drainage improvements, landscape beautification, trees, and the replacement of damaged sidewalks.

Silver Bluff Park Ribbon cutting

Commissioner Francis Suarez, District 4, along with area neighbors and city administrators held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Silver Bluff Park. Formerly known as “Golden Arms Mini Park”, the new Silver Bluff Park was transformed from an empty plot of land into a beautiful park that the community can be proud of and enjoy for the years to come.

Ground Breaking

Here, Commissioner Suarez along with various community members is speaking at the Groundbreaking Ceremony for the new Coral Gate Park Community Building. The Capital Improvements project consisted of furnishing all labor, materials and equipment for the construction of a new community building. It also includes a new parking lot, landscaping, demolition of the existing building, and a new playground.

On Mother’s Day 2011, Commissioner Suarez visited Badia’s Senior Center to personally wish all the mother’s at the center a wonderful Mother’s Day.

Arbor Day

In honor of National Arbor Day, Mayor Tomas Regalado and District 4 Commissioner Francis Suarez, joined by members of Miami’s Consular Corps kicked-off the celebration with a tree planting ceremony. One-hundred trees were planted within a five-block radius in the West Flagler residential area. Local volunteer organizations Citizens for a Better South Florida and Hands on Miami partnered with the City in this initiative to improve the community.

On Tuesday, July 12th, Commissioner Francis Suarez, alongside Mayor Thomas Regalado, joined various other local “celebrities” to celebrate Versailles Restaurant’s 40th anniversary. The Cuban restaurant, a Miami staple, has been a “hot spot” for residents and visitors alike since its doors opened in 1971.

Commissioner Suarez

On November 17th 2009, Francis X. Suarez was sworn in as Commissioner of District 4, a sprawling district which runs from SW 69th Ave. to SW 17th Ave. and from NW 7th Street to U.S. 1. He was reelected to a four-year term in 2011.

Commissioner Suarez was born and raised in Miami. The oldest of four siblings, he was born into a family where, according to the Commissioner, “being socially conscious was kind of a requirement.” Commissioner Suarez attended La Salle High School before obtaining his B.S. in finance from Florida International University, where he graduated in the top ten percent of his class. In 2005, Commissioner Suarez received his law degree, with honors, from the Frederic G. Levin College of Law at the University of Florida. As a law student, Commissioner Suarez was selected for the honors internship program at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Miami Branch.
