Consolidated Plan 2014-2019- Survey for Community Input

The City of Miami is gathering community input towards its next Consolidated Plan to span the years of 2014-2018, and to be filed with the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD). This survey was made available at our recent public hearings to all persons interested in providing their input on what they consider to be the most important activities within their district in PUBLIC SERVICE, ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, and HOUSING.

If you are interested in submitting a survey with your opinions, please see the survey link, type in your first/last name and address, and make the survey selections as indicated. You can then e-mail completed surveys to communitydevelopment@miamigov.com. One survey per person please.

All survey responses will be collected and tallied, to be included in the Consolidated Plan process. We cannot accept surveys that do not include contact information (first/last name & address).

The City of Miami Department of Community & Economic Development will issue Requests for Proposals (RFPs) on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 for all interested public service agencies, AIDS services providers, and non-profit agencies seeking federal Community Development Block Grants (CDBG), Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG), and/or Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA) funds for Fiscal Year 2014-2015 (40th Year). The Department will be holding three Pre-Proposal Workshops for applicants seeking these funds during the month of September.

Public Notice - Public Hearings Scheduled for this August

The City of Miami Department of Community & Economic Development will be conducting public hearings from August 12th through August 21st, to discuss community needs and establish priorities for federally funded activities within the City of Miami during a five-year period (2014-2018) in preparation for the Consolidated Plan 2014-2018, along with discussion on community needs and the distribution of funds for Fiscal Year 2014-2015, which runs from April 1, 2014 through March 31, 2015. The activities to be discussed are those funded via the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (U.S. HUD) for grant programs including Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG), Home Investment Partnerships Program (HOME), and the Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA) program. All public hearings are open to the public. Requests for special accommodations to be directed to 305.416.2080 no less than three business days prior to the Public Hearing date. Public Notice - Proposed City of Miami Annual Action Plan for Fiscal Year 2013-2014

As per the Code of Federal Regulations 24 CFR 91.200, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (“HUD”) requires entitlement cities that receive funds under its grant programs to prepare an Annual Action Plan, which details proposed activities to maximize the benefits of federal funding for low income residents. The City of Miami is required to report annually to HUD on projects funded through the Community Development Block Grant (“CDBG”); Home Investment Partnership (“HOME”); Emergency Shelter Grant (“ESG”); and Housing Opportunities for Persons With AIDS (“HOPWA”) programs.

The City of Miami Department of Community and Economic Development has completed a draft of its 2013-2014 Action Plan. The Annual Action Plan will be available for public review and comment for a period of no less than 30 days. The review and comment period begins on January 14, 2013, and ends February 13, 2013. The plan will be presented to City Commission for approval on February 14, 2013, (public hearing) at City Commission Chambers, 3500 Pan American Drive, Miami, FL 33130 at 9:00 a.m. 

Draft copies of the Plan will be available at the City of Miami Department of Community Development office located at 444 SW 2nd Avenue, 2nd Floor, Miami, FL, 33130 on January 14, 2013. Comments to the plan must be submitted, in writing to: 444 SW 2nd Avenue, 2nd Floor, Miami, FL. 33130; Attn.: Roberto Tazoe, no later than February 14, 2013. Interested individuals are encouraged to attend the Public Hearing. The meeting site is accessible to the handicapped. Requests for special accommodations may be directed to the Department of Community Development at (305) 416-2080 no less than three (3) business days prior to the Public Hearing date.
