(Miami, FL)- The City of Miami has
officially sworn in re-elected Mayor Manny Diaz and City Commissioners
Joe Sanchez, District Three and Michelle Spence-Jones, District Five on
Friday, December 2, 2005 at City Hall. The newly elected officials are
marking a new era with the vision to make a difference for the city by
listening and taking action to the issues that affect the community.
“I want to thank you all for trusting me with the vision of a better
Miami. The people of Miami have spoken and people want to see more done
and less talk.” said the re-elected Mayor Manny Diaz. It is my hope that
the next four years we continue to make the City of Miami the best city
in the nation and in the world”
The successful event was well attended by local and state elected
officials as well as the community in support of the Mayor and the newly
elected Commissioners. Many cheered as Mayor Diaz reflected in the past
and promised a bright future for the city.
“Anchored in stable homes, our families can continue to build stronger
communities… Building stable, affordable communities is where our common
sense meets our morality,” said Commissioner Joe Sanchez.
“I am humbled and honored that the voters chose me to be their City of
Miami Commissioner,” said the newly sworn in Michelle Spence-Jones. “I
have many people counting on me to make a difference for District Five
and I promise I will not let you down.”
The City of Miami newly elected officials received the blessing of
religious community leaders and the community, as the focus will be to
continue to encourage the community to become one unified voice towards
the common one common goal: make the City of Miami be the best city in
