Commissioner Joe Sanchez Passes the Gavel to New Commission
Chairman Angel Gonzalez
-Ceremony takes place during Commission meeting, Thursday

(Miami, Fla.) – At the beginning
of the City Commission meeting to be held Thursday, December 15, 2005 at
City Hall, 3500 Pan American Drive, in which the ongoing Chairman Joe
Sanchez will pass the gavel to incoming Chairman Angel Gonzalez. This
procedure follows a precedent established by Mayor Manny Diaz for the
rotation of the City Commission Chairman on an annual basis.
Angel Gonzalez is currently the Vice-Chairman of the Commission. Each
City commission Chairman will hold his position for one year.
Commissioner Gonzalez will preside his first meeting as chairman in
January 2006.
Each district commissioner (Districts 1 through 5) has served as
chairman once during the Mayor’s time.
