Mayor Manny Diaz and Commissioner Jeffery Allen Hold A
Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the Model City Floral Park
Project, Phase I
|
(Miami, Florida)—City of Miami Mayor
Manny Diaz and Commissioner Jeffery Allen, District 5, will be joined by
city administrators, civic leaders and area residents for the ribbon
cutting celebration of the Model City Floral Park Project, Phase I, a
Capital Improvements project, to be held on Monday, October 3, 2005, at
11:30am, at the intersection of 18th Avenue NW and 41st Street NW.
This project’s proposed design aimed at improving the quality and
appearance of local streets and improving the drainage to the area by
introducing turf blocks along the swale and French drains at locations
where flooding is a common occurrence. The width of the roadway was
corrected and the pavement width will be unvarying at 22 feet.
The location of the project is the area between NW 17th Avenue and NW
19th Avenue and from NW 40th Street to NW 44th Street. The scope of the
project included milling and resurfacing of local streets to improve the
appearance and pavement width, turf blocks and reconstruction at NW 18th
Avenue between NW 40th and NW 42nd Street.
The total estimated cost of this project is $2,041,609 and the funding
sources are Community Block Grant Funds and the Transit Half Cent
Surtax. Phase II of this project is slated to start early next year,
from 17th to 19th Avenue and NW and 45th Street to 57th Street NW.
