There are 36,000 fleet departments in North America, and 250 were
considered for the award. The 100 Best Award was created to help
accountability, transparency, and perception in the public sector. The
objective is to provide a more cost effective means of providing mission
critical services to the general public.
The application process includes all ten areas with documented results
required in each. With competition from the top fleets across the
country, the award program, now in its third year, has as its main goal
assisting outstanding fleet operations garner the recognition they
deserve.
"The criteria are designed to encourage the ongoing improvement of fleet
operations in all areas, particularly in relation to how people work
together to achieve outstanding results,” says Tom Johnson, originator
of the concept that has evolved into a shared sponsorship of the
program. Currently, Fleet Equipment joins Tom’s consulting practice and
CCG Systems, Inc. in both the promotion and execution of the application
and selection process. In addition, several fleet industry leaders
collaborated on the criteria development.
