City of Miami
Mayor Manny Diaz, along with Downtown area merchants and city
administrators celebrated the groundbreaking ceremony for the
Downtown Infrastructure Streets, Phase I, during a press conference
today.
“Downtown Miami
is booming with housing and businesses. Phase I of the Downtown
Infrastructure is the beginning of a long awaited improvement
project toward a more vibrant Downtown Miami,” says Miami Mayor
Manny Diaz.
The groundbreaking
marks the beginning of yet another important capital improvements
project which consists of the milling and resurfacing, the
replacements of broken sidewalk, curb and gutter replacements,
addition of ADA compliant ramps, sewer rehabilitation and limited
landscaping of several streets in the Downtown core:
NW 5th
Street from NW 3rd Avenue to NE 2nd Avenue
NW 3rd Avenue from NW 1st Street to NW 5th
Street
NW 2nd Street from NW 3rd Avenue to NW 2nd
Avenue
SW/NW 1st Avenue from SW 2nd Street to NW 5th
Street
SW 2nd Street from S. North River Drive to SE 2nd
Avenue
SW 3rd Street from S. North River Drive to S. Miami
Avenue
SE 4th Street from S. Miami Avenue to SE 1st
Avenue
SW 1st Court from SW 3rd Street to SW 1st
Street
N. Miami Court from W. Flagler Street to NW 1st Street
NE 3rd Avenue from E. Flagler Street to NE 2nd
Street
Funding for the
project was provided by City of Miami Homeland Defense Neighborhood
Improvement Bond Dollars. The total cost of the project is
estimated at $3,640,175.
