A New “Do” for an Old
Time Favorite
-Re Inauguration of Historic Barber Shop in
Overtown-

(Miami, Florida)—City of Miami
Mayor Manny Diaz, Commissioner Jeffery Allen, District 5, Commissioner
Johnny Winton, Chairman of the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) will
be joined by CRA board members, elected officials, city administrators,
athletes, historians, famous hair designers, educators, students and
local residents to celebrate the grand reopening of Just Right Barber
Shop, Wednesday, September 28th, 2005, 11:00 am at 1133 NW 3rd Avenue in
the Overtown neighborhood of Miami.
The Just Right Barbershop was originally founded in 1950 by Mary R.
Smith with the name Broadway Barbershop. Mary was the first woman barber
in Overtown. In 1982 the name was changed to Just Right on Broadway and
today the place is known as Just Right Barber Shop.
The Overtown neighborhood is one of the original and oldest in the City,
full of history and priceless memories relished by our community in
general. The Just Right Barbershop was recently renovated in 2005 with
the assistance of Southeast Overtown/Park West Community Redevelopment
Agency as part of the present and future redevelopment plans for this
valuable an upcoming area.
