The Numbers Are In…
City of
Miami Neighborhood Enhancement Team
Job Fair a Success!
|
Miami, FL- The numbers are in. The
Neighborhood Enhancement Team (NET) Job Fair was a success!
On June 1st, the Neighborhood Enhancement Team (NET) held the First
Annual City of Miami Job Fair at the Miami Orange Bowl. The Job Fair,
which was open to the public, was created by NET to offer job seekers
the opportunity to meet prospective employers in the area and obtain
employment. In addition to meeting employers, participants were provided
information on workforce development programs, job training, summer jobs
and internships.
NET’s goals for the event were to attract a minimum of 500 applicants
and create a minimum of 100 job placements in collaboration with at
least 20 industry partners.
The City of Miami clearly surpassed these goals! The latest review and
analysis showed the following:
- NET attracted over 45
industry partners including Comcast, FPL and Wachovia
- 85% of the industry partners
are located within the City of Miami
- 1,953 applicants were
registered at the event, 720 of which reside in the City of
Miami
- 102 job seekers were HIRED
as a result of the Job Fair
- 36 job fair participants
enrolled in educational and/or vocational programs that were
represented at the Job Fair
- At $112.52 cost per hire,
resources were maximized to the greatest extent possible
|
Because a large percentage of the
industry partners and job seekers are located in the City of Miami, NET
is confident that the jobs gained through the job fair will create a
positive economic impact throughout the City.
The City of Miami Neighborhood Enhancement Team (NET) looks forward to
exceeding these results at its Second Annual Job Fair in 2006!
NET would like to thank the following partners who helped make the First
Annual City of Miami Job Fair a success: The Office of Mayor Manny Diaz,
Commissioner Tomas Regalado, City of Miami Conferences, Conventions and
Public Facilities, Miami-Dade Transit, Baby’s Coffee, Diana Bakery,
Portofino Bakery, The Beacon Council; Office of the City Manager; Miami
Homeless Assistance Program; City of Miami Police Department and
Citizens on Patrol; City of Miami Fire Department; City of Miami
Departments of Employee and Labor Relations; City of Miami Department of
Parks and Recreation; and City of Miami General Services Administration.
