(Heat Tickets and Gift Certificates in exchange for weapons)

(Miami, FL   January 17, 2013)  - Mayor Tomas Regalado, City Commissioners, and the Miami Police Department will be hosting the first official 2013 Gun Buy Back Operation of the year in efforts to reduce gun violence and unnecessary injuries to the City’s citizens. “As a community we must take a stand against gun violence, and this campaign will help remove guns from our streets.” said Mayor Tomas Regalado.

Firearms may be dropped off at the below designated location with NO questions asked. Heat tickets and gift certificates will be provided by partner and sponsor, Dade Medical College. This is the first of three Gun Buy Back events to be held in the City of Miami.

“Thirty-Three people across our country lose their lives every single day because they get shot”, said Chief of Police Manuel Orosa.

The “no questions asked” program will allow individuals to anonymously dispose of firearms.

“This shows how the community, the City of Miami and the Miami Police Department unite to promote safety”, stated Assistant Chief of Police Ricardo Roque.
