City of Miami employees awarded ASPA's
CAP Emerging Leaders Award of Excellence

(Miami, FL March 19, 2018) -  City of Miami Chief Innovation Officer Mike Sarasti and Strategic Planning and Performance Manager Cheriene Floyd have been awarded the 'Center for Accountability and Performance Emerging Leaders Award of Excellence' by the American Society for Public Administration (ASPA).

The program recognizes early and mid-career professionals in the field of performance management at the federal, state or local level, who are actively implementing performance management systems, innovating new practices and promoting the importance of performance and accountability within their governments and communities.

Floyd and Sarasti have worked to train dozens of City of Miami employees in process improvement through the Miami Innovation Academy. The award is a reflection of the efforts they and their colleagues have made over the past year to support data-driven government.

Innovation is a top priority for the City of Miami. Aside from improving internal processes, the City of Miami is currently testing a new, service-based, user-friendly website, and is preparing to launch Electronic Plan Review later this year to simplify how permits are submitted and tracked.
