City Manager Announces Appointments to City Leadership Team

(Miami, FL March 5, 2018) - City Manager Emilio T. Gonzalez announces the appointment of three new directors to the City leadership team. 

On Monday, March 5, 2018, Colonel Steven C. Williamson will be joining the City of Miami as Director of the Office of Capital Improvements and Mr. Eugene Ramirez will be joining the City as the Director of the Office of Communications.  Additionally, Officer James Bernat has been appointed to the position of Director of Code Compliance.

Colonel Steven C. Williamson was a senior officer with the United States Corps of Engineers for over 20 years where he provided operational leadership and expertise in developing policy, regulation, and procedures directly related to construction for the entire U.S. military as well as directing and managing professional project managers. He served as the engineer program director for the U.S. Southern Command and has directed projects in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Kuwait. Mr. Williamson is currently pursuing an Executive MBA from the Kellogg School of Management and has earned Master's Degrees in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War Collge and Procurement and Acquisition Management from Webster University.

Mr. Eugene Ramirez is a Miami native who was most recently the co-anchor at CBS4 News. He has previously served as an anchor and reporter throughout Florida. Mr. Ramirez also served as a guest contributor for HLN's Showbiz Tonight, CNN en EspaƱol's Showbiz and CNN Newsroom. Additionally, he was responsible for bilingual communications and media strategy for one of the nation's largest retailers. Mr. Ramirez earned his Bachelor's Degree in Mass Communications from Spring Hill College where he was Editor-in-Chief of The Springhillian. He has won numerous awards from the Florida A.P. Broadcasters.

Executive Officer James Bernat joined the City of Miami in 2007. He is well versed in issues related to code compliance having served as a Neighborhood Resource Officer where he dealt with community quality of life issues such as crime prevention, code enforcement, public works, and zoning. Most recently, he served as Executive Officer to Police Chief Jorge Colina in the Miami Police Department.
