Calle Ocho Improvements

(Miami, FL June 7, 2017) - The City of Miami will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of the S.W. 15 Avenue Roadway Improvements project from S.W. 8 Street to S.W. 7th Street. This exciting project transforms the corridor from a simple thru street to a raised/festive street that is pedestrian friendly. While the street will still serve vehicular traffic during most of the week, the addition of removable bollards will allow the City of Miami to close the entire street, allowing only foot traffic during festivities and special events including Viernes Culturales. This creates an outdoor experience that is unique to Calle Ocho and Little Havana. S.W. 15 Avenue also features the use of decorative color pavers that were designed to highlight and emphasize the street. These pavers match the look of the section along S.W. 15th Avenue to the south in front of Domino Park creating a sense of continuity in design and feel.  Total construction cost was $371,799 fully funded by the Office of Mayor Tomas Regalado.
