The City of Miami Programs for Persons with Disabilities operates as a Non-Residential Supports and Services (NRSS) for adults and children with developmental disabilities. Persons admitted to the Program are accepted with the understanding that the Program is a community based leisure program and focuses on community awareness.
To be eligible for admission to program, the consumer must be:

A client of the Department of Children and Families.

15 years of age or older
-
On the Medicaid Waiver
-
Without a recent history of physical assault against others or severe property destruction.
-
Free of involvement, past or present, with the court system.
-
Without a recent history of severe PICA or self-injurious behaviors
-
Capable of receptive and expressive communication.
To qualify for NRSS & transportation services, candidates must require a minimal need for assistance. All determinations below are made by the Interdisciplinary Team.
An up to date support plan and service authorization form must be sent to: Janice Thurston c/o The Sandra DeLucca Developmental Center, 4560 NW 4th Terrace, Miami, FL 33126. Phone - (305) 461-7201 ext. 226. Please do not fax the forms. Once the forms have been received staff will then interview the consumer.

Physical aggression such as hitting, biting, scratching, pushing, kicking, spitting, - suspension up to three (3) days.

Purposeful destruction of property - suspension up to three (3) days.

Stealing property belonging to others - suspension up to one (1) day.

Repeated cursing towards staff and/or clients - suspension up to one (1) day
-
Inappropriate sexual or racial remarks towards staff/clients - suspension up to one (1) day.

Prolonged refusal to engage in required tasks/group activities - up to one (1) day.

Three (3) suspensions within a one-month period as per criteria referenced above.

Absence without notification or a documented excuse for two (2) Week.

One-week notification is given prior to termination from the Program.
