The City of Miami, Department of Parks and Recreation, Programs for Persons with Disabilities provides community awareness, therapeutic recreation, adult day training, daily living skills and transportation to over two hundred children and adults with mental and physical disabilities. Project L.I.F.T. is funded by the City of Miami's general fund and targets disabled children and adults residing within the city limits, who otherwise do not receive services or assistance.
Programs are provided on a weekly basis and special events on a monthly basis. Special Olympic training is also provided on a local level. Transportation is provided to program participants.
The primary goal of Programs for Persons with Disabilities, is to provide programs geared toward independence and to enhance the quality of life for persons with disabilities. These much needed services to Miami's disabled community empower these individuals to open doors of opportunities that have been closes for so many years.
