Learn-To-Swim (Fee required) - offered year round
Parks and Recreation pool facilities are lifeguard supervised.Our Learn-to-Swim program has been designed to develop and enhance the swimming skills of all registered children. With so many pools and open bodies of water surrounding South Florida it is a necessity for children to have a basic swimming ability, it could be a life saving skill.
Courses are geared towards toddlers (ages 3 and up), youths and adults. All participants receive the appropriate Red Cross Certification upon successful completion of the 10 session course.

** All Learn-To-Swim Programs cost $35 (for ten sessions) for city residents and $45 (for ten sessions) for non-city residents.

Sailing Camp
Let your child enjoy the open seas and learn about the sport of sailing. Participants will learn how to operate a small craft, safety practices, emergency procedures, knot tying, how to read a chart and more. This is a paid camp of $80 a week for city residents; non-city residents pay $95 a week. For more information call (305) 416 - 1308.
Basketball Camp
In its third year this co-ed basketball camp is for any 14 - 17 year old who loves basketball. Conditioning, health and fitness, basketball fundamentals, academics and more. Camp runs from 9am - 3.30pm at Booker T. Washington High School from June till August. There is a $25 registration fee which includes the first two weeks of camp, reversible uniform and insurance. Bryan Park offers a free comprehensive tennis program for children ages 7-13. Physical conditioning, tennis tournaments, group work, footwork and more will be focused on during the camp. Campers will also participate in Learn to Swim and recreational swim as well as outdoor and indoor games. Maximum of 60 campers. For more information call (305) 642-1271.

Contact your local park to find out more about our summer games and their dates. Track and Field - Sports consisting of athletic contests such as foot races, sack races, jumping and running events.
Super Soccer - Participants are timed as they dribble a soccer ball with their feet from the center of the starting line, through cones and attempt a shot for the goal.
Punt-Pass-Kick - this contest is played with a football, each participant is allowed only 1 Pass, 1 Punt and 1 Place kick.. Winners are determined by totaling the points of all three events.
Hot Shot - A basketball Shoot-Out Contest which each participant receives points for shooting the basketball from a specified marked area on the court.
Co-Volleyball - A game played on a rectangular court between 2 teams of 6 players in which a large inflated ball is volleyed back and forth across a high net until the ball touches the floor or is hit out of bounds.
