Lifeguard Opportunities

The City of Miami Parks and Recreation Department is offering a lifeguard training course. The fee is $85 and must be paid in the form of a money order to the City of Miami.

The lifeguard training course will cover CPR, water park and lifeguard certifications. Before you take the course you will have to complete a basic swim test and at the end of the course you will take an exam that you will need to pass for your lifeguard certification.

 

The courses are generally held over a two week period. The upcoming courses are:

April 7 – April  18

April 14 – April 18

April 26 – May 2

May 2 – May 7

 Black Beard's Beach

After much anticipation the new Grapeland Water Park (Black Beard’s Beach) will be open as of May 14th, 2008. Operating hours are 9am-8pm for all your family fun. At the present time we are just going to focus on proving you with a wet and wonderful experience, so for the time being no birthday parties are going to be held within the water park and we do not allow any outside food. Groups are welcomed and if you want to bring kids as part of a birthday field trip out, we welcome you. Fees for the park are Ages 4 – 13 $5, Ages 14 and older who are city residents $7, ages 14 and older who are non city residents are $10. You can also guarantee a cool summer by purchasing the annual pass for $80 for city residents and $120 for non-city residents. We are looking forward to serving you and your family with a splashing good time.

Summer Fitness
Yes it is hot outside but that is no excuse not to keep up your fitness regimine. Maybe you should mix it up, try something new or just visit a park and try something free!

Join the Hit and Giggle Women's Tennis Group at Moore Park, 765 NW 36 Street. Classes are Saturday morning and include tennis fundamentals and aerobic conditioning, for more information (305) 6637-1061

Also visit Moore Park's track and get your walk on. Get together with a few freinds and stretch your legs, the track is open from sunrise to sunset and it a safe cardio option for getting your excersise.

Hit the water this summer at Morningside Park - Kayak on the weekends for $5 an hour from 9am - 12pm Saturday and Sunday. Morningside Park is located at 750 NE 55 Terrace.

The pool can be your fitness freind this summer. Hadley Pool offers Hip Hop Water Aerobics from 5pm - 7pm and Old School Water Aerobics from 10am - 12pm.
