Miami, FL – Commissioner Joe Sanchez and the Miami City Commission approved Miami 21 on First Reading with a vote of 4-1.  “This shows that if we’re positive and are willing to compromise in a respectable way, many positive changes can come to the people of Miami,” stated Chairman Sanchez.

“Miami 21 is a people-friendly zoning code.  It will increase park space, improve ‘walkability’, and make Miami a more sustainable place to live in among other benefits.  As with any type of overhaul, there will be issues and concerns.  I call upon the administration to address these concerns before second reading, and make sure we vote on a version of Miami 21 that bring the people the zoning code they deserve,” continued Chairman Sanchez.

The plan must still go before the Commission for a second reading before becoming effective.
