(Miami, Florida)—The Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) and the City of Miami will hold the “Youth on the Move” Empowerment Ceremony on Wednesday, August 19, 2009, from 6pm – 9pm at the Lyric theater, 819 NW 2nd Avenue. 


This event marks the culmination of the Youth Summer Program, spearheaded by Commissioner Michelle Spence Jones, District 5, and created by the City of Miami Commission, as part of the Southeast Overtown/Park West Community Redevelopment Plan to provide better employment opportunities and upward job mobility for residents.  The program provided grants to businesses and organizations that employed youth during the summer months.

The Ceremony concludes a 10 week Training Project, where youths ages 15-24, from the city of Miami, were partnered with local businesses and organizations for on site skills training.
